1. Tell me
about what you have learned in this business
as being an actress?
I've learned that you're always growing as a
human being, always learning new things,
that you have to study and work hard, do
your homework and keep it fresh. I've also
learned that it's a very competitive
business, nothing is permanent, you have to
deal with a lot of rejection, heartbreaks,
but if you know that's your call, "just keep
going and nothing will stop you".
2. You are in
a movie called Confessions of an Exorcist;
you play Vanessa Rivera, what's this
character like?
I play a doctor who is the professional
type, has a very strong personality, but
also has a heart of gold. She is on love
with the lead character and she tries to
hide her emotions because he is a priest.
She is also very skeptical about the
supernatural, but in the end has a change of
heart.
3. You are
also in a film called Boppin at the Glue
Factory, what's that movie about and the
character you play?
It's a dark comedy about a junkie who runs
the night shift at a convalescent hospital.
I played this very "sweet nurse" that spends
her days taking care of the needy old
patients. Later on, we find out that she is
not so sweet after all, she is a naughty
girl who likes to spend her free time
talking dirty online. She even has an alias
" Anal Goddess 17".
4. Slip is
another film you have done last year 2006,
what's that film about and your role as
Maria Vierra?
It's about a young woman who can communicate
with and help the dead. In a way it's
similar to The Six Sense, except she isn't
dead. My character died giving birth to a
little girl, but still have unfinished
business to take care of. So, her spirit
comes back to finish it.
5. Werewolf
in a Women's Prison will be released on DVD
August 2007, what's the film about and the
role of Rita?
It's about a girl who is accused of killing
her boyfriend; she got thrown in jail and
became a werewolf after one bit her. I had a
blast, playing Rita. I had no idea that
playing a "sadistic lesbian prison guard"
would be that much fun. I really enjoyed
torturing and whipping the female prisoners.
Who would've thought, considering that
everybody thinks I'm a goooood girl. I had
to do an extensive background work for this
character. (joke)
6. What would you like
to say to teens worldwide about their
education, their dreams and goals?
If you have a chance to go to college, don't
even think twice. Education is very
important and the competition is very
fierce. Whatever your dreams and goals are,
never give up, don't ever let anybody tell
you what you CAN'T do. Even when the odds
are against you, go for your dreams, because
that's all you have.
7. Why did
you want to become an actress?
Acting always fascinated me, and after my
first school play, I knew that's what I
wanted to do. Also, because you can be
whoever you want, get out of your own skin
and become somebody else for the day,
sometimes for months, if it's a play. It's
very gratifying when someone sees you on the
screen or on the stage and they let you know
that they felt for that character, when you
can touch someone 's heart and make them
think.
8. What do
you hope to do differently this year in
acting and try different roles besides
horror?
I hope to get involved with more dramatic
projects, with more challenge and character
dept. Actually I've done more drama and
comedy than horror movies, but because I got
a lead role in the cult classic Day of the
Dead 2 (released in 2005), most people think
that's all do. I've became known for it, and
got more offers in the horror genre. In the
past year I've turned down 4 horror
projects, because I don't want to keep the
label as a "Hollywood Scream Queen", like I
read in a few websites. Also, I'm thinking
about going back to the stage, I haven't
done a play in over a year.
9. Who is
Jackeline Olivier in one word and why?
"Wild" Why? I think it has to do with my
Latin heritage. I've always liked
adventures, to explore the unknown,
experiment and experience new things, doing
things that most people only dream of, but
are always afraid if trying.
10. When you
go to auditions are you nervous and what's
the atmosphere like?
Yes, sometimes I do get nervous and I'm not
afraid to admit it. The environment is
always different, sometimes you have the
friendly type, who shakes your hand, has
time for conversation, ask you questions
that has nothing to do with the project,
makes you fell like a welcomed guest in
their house. Sometimes is IN, do your job
(do it well) and OUT, because they have 50
more people to see that day and chatting
with actors won't really speed the process.
11. Those wanting to
get into acting, what advice can you give
someone?
Make sure that's what you want as a career
and that you can support yourself while
trying to make it. It's not an easy road;
it's a cutting throat business, with a lot
of competition and new faces everyday, you
have to be persistent. Some people want to
get involved in the acting business just for
fame and fortune. Well, that could be
disappointing, because very few will be rich
and famous, but as I said before, if that's
what you want "DON'T LET ANYBODY STOP YOU".
